I actually was getting ready for the 24 hour thing. Go to Toshiba support site look for Toshiba Satellite A135 drivers, download the one for your windows 32 or 64 bit install, restart and off you go. You will need to replace the drive and then reinstall the operating system. Thanks for the info.
Should I expect to have something replaced? A simple swap of a brand new hard drive. I did see an option on the TOshiba Recovery disk that allowed Start up repair and did it, but the process just hung. At first it showed boot error, I got the recovery disks, went though the recovery process.

Hi, I am having exactly the same problem as impayler. Error : 10- FA11 -045D. Toshiba already put a new hard drive in this laptop (this is a co workers computer that I am trying to help out). Eventually if there's too much movement and the board on the HDD racks up errors too high it will just be like "bleh" and fail.
